Grapefruit Mocktail Recipe

When you want a drink to celebrate something special but want to stay off the booze, this citrusy mocktail recipe will satisfy any cocktail envy and make you feel festive.

Alcohol can be associated with special occasions and celebrations. In the last few months, we have drastically reduced our alcohol consumption so when I drink, I like to choose something nice that I will enjoy. But it is also very much linked to reduced functions from the liver and affecting your mood as well as you behaviours if you abuse of it.

Whether you are a controlled drinker or just want to be alcohol-free tonight, this is the perfect mocktail recipe. It has got citrus and sweet flavours from the grapefruit and creamy honey. And with the bubbles, it’s got an overall air of festive cheer.

Mocktail recipe for 2 people:

  • 1 grapefruit
  • 1 orange
  • 1 tbsp of creamy honey
  • 50cL sparkling water
  • Ice

Juice the grapefruit and the orange, transfer to a cocktail shaker. I use a manual / vintage citrus juicer and there is always a bit of fruit fibre that I can’t help but going in. So I use a strainer to make sure I don’t put the fruit fibre in the cocktail shaker.

Add a generous tablespoon of creamy honey and a handful of ice. Close the lid of the cocktail shaker and shake it well, use those arms ! The honey will melt in the juices and the ice after about 30 seconds.

Once this is all melted and combined, add more ice to two tumblers. Pour over the content of the shaker. Top with sparkling water, and enjoy !

If you have companions who are looking for an extra buzz or extra booze, you can replace the sparkling water with Prosecco or Champagne.
