Are you looking to find a quick and easy hummus recipe you will make over and over again? Then this recipe is for you, it’s ready in less than 5 minutes and keeps in the fridge for up to ten days.

Hummus is one of the dips that is so easy to make and is good for you. You can use it to dip chopped vegetables or crackers in for the perfect snack, spread on sandwiches instead of mayo, serve with falafels and pitta bread. Other suggestions? 

I love making a batch of humus to have on hand in the fridge, and it alway gets used up pretty quickly. It’s the kind of spread that I don’t crave when I don’t see it, but when it’s in the house, I want it with everything.

Quick & Easy Method 

To make the hummus, you can either do it from scratch with dry chickpeas, with requires thinking ahead and more prep, or you can buy a can of chickpeas. Canned chickpeas are very good as well because the chickpeas have already been cooked, and they are in water which helps decrease the gassiness of the beans – bonus !

Before you start, I’d recommend making sure you have a high-powered blender. I now use a Vitamix which has changed my life. It is on the pricey end it’s true, but this is the kind of kitchen utensils that you want to invest in because it will last for a long time. 

I spent so much time with cheap blenders scraping the sides while making hummus, adding more water or oil to help the blending process, and eventually changing the texture and taste … Now I’m so glad I switched to a powerful blender, and no recipe is a challenge anymore (fingers crossed!). 

You can add all the ingredients to the blender, and blend on high for about a minute, starting low and gradually increasing. You can also stop and scrape the sides to help it keep going, and start again. 

Taste it, see if you’ve got enough salt or cumin, if needed add more water if its’ very thick and you want it a bit runny. Adjust to what feels right to you, and it’s ready ! This is what I call a quick and easy hummus recipe, right?

Feel free to add roasted chickpeas on top, seeds, smoked paprika or olive oil for the presentation if you want it to look fancy. 

Now you can make hummus every week in just 5 minutes and increase your protein intake effortlessly when you need a snack.

This fail-proof hummus recipe is ready in 5 mn and only need 5 ingredients
Prep Time 5 minutes

Ingredients
  

  • 1 400g can of chickpeas
  • 1/2 liquid of the chickpea can
  • 1 tbsp tahini
  • 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • salt

Instructions
 

  • Add all the ingredients to a high-powered blender.
  • Blend on low mode, then gradually increase the power. If needed, stop and scrape the sides of the bowl, then start blending again, until a smooth consistency.
  • Serve in a bowl with seeds and smoked paprika, or roasted chickpeas and olive oil.
