How to Make Your Tofu Tasty?

Tasty tofu

This simple method will help you make your tofu tasty in a short amount of time and mainly make it delicious. Trust me, you will never eat it differently once you try.

Tasty Tofu?

We’ve all had a first time eating tofu. For those of you who remember, it might have been bland. Or worse, not good.

Let’s face it, on its own, tofu is NOT great.

But when you want an easy alternative to meat to reduce your consumption or give it up completely, you almost have to eat tofu.

Plain tofu

So you have to find a way to make it palatable; better even, make it tasty.

And I have found the way, so let me share it with you (drum rolls please …).

It’s the marinade.

The Marinade

When you leave tofu to marinate in a mix of flavours, it has time to soak and absorb them all, and it can taste just incredible. All you have to do is make a sauce, put it in a takeaway or lunch box, put your tofu, shake it up good, and leave it there for 15-20 minutes.

Once you take it out, whether you bake, roast, air-fry, or saute it, it will taste de-li-cious.

Now, my go-to method has always been the oven, 30 minutes at 180* on parchment paper, and we’re done. I can serve it with greens and a nice sauce (favourite dressings here), and dinner is served.

But I finally caved and got us an air-fryer for Christmas, so maybe I will be conquered, like millions of others. And air-fry my tofu in it.

My favourite marinade? The 3S: Soy – Sriracha – Sesame

Method

Preheat your oven to 180*.

Mix together

  • 3 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of Sriracha ( or less if you don’t it too spicy)
  • 1 tablespoon of sesame oil

Put it in the lunch box, place your cubed tofu in it, close the lid and shake well.

On a baking tray, place parchment paper, the marinated tofu and spread it well on the tray so it can bake evenly.

Put the baking tray in the oven for 30 minutes, turning the cubes of tofu half way through to bake the other side.

Serve with greens and a sauce (as referenced above), or as a salad topper.

Enjoy !
